You’re Gonna Put the What in the What-What?

(I think he’s moving the wrong way, crawling up into Kristen’s lungs. I’m serious. He never wants to come out.)

We went to the doctor’s today, a post-due-date-what’s-happening visit. I went along to assuage some of my worries (most of which are too frightening to post on the blog), but also to get the details of some of what’s happening and what’s going to happen. Kristen took a non-stress test, and everything came up golden. The heart rate’s great, he’s moving a lot, and there are regular contractions (although, not particularly strong).

Part of the examination did not look particularly enjoyable on Kristen’s account, with her doctor (Dr. Bonner) squatting in front of her like a wrestler, using all her might to… do something that didn’t look particularly enjoyable. I cringed and covered my eyes, but I could still hear Kristen grunting.

So here’s what we got out of the visit (other than some serious soreness): if Kristen goes into labor the next four days, we go to the hospital and get that baby out (that’s pretty much what you think, right?); if she doesn’t go into labor, we have to make our way to the hospital for a 10:30 Sunday evening induction (inducement?), where Barnabas will likely be born some time Monday.

So, if you had Tuesday or later in the pool, you’ve lost.

As always, come back here to see the first photos of the baby and pictures of me looking very pale and scared.
