H-H-H-Henry and the Hats
(If you need some music for this post, click here and just re-do the lyrics yourself.)
Nothing makes a man (or baby) more than a hat. Would Philip Marlowe be caught dead not wearing his trademark fedora? I think not. Although hats have gone out of style of late (okay, since the 60s), I think Henry is a good candidate to help bring them back.
You see, Henry needs to wear a hat when he goes outside. Why? Well, a few reasons. First, he has very little hair and needs something to augment his natural covering. Second, his head is very large, this largeĀ surface area requiring a woolen shield. And third, he looks so darn cute in them, and a cute baby with a cute hat always leads to a few comments from strangers (which I love).
Henry’s hats range from the cute to the ridiculously cute. Some were handmade (either by my mother or by a really crafty woman from upstate New York which a friend bought for us on Etsy). Others came straight from the store (either purchased by us or by a friend).
This morning, we had a short fashion show. Hope you enjoy.
This first hat was given to us by our friend Jodi. We like it quite a bit.

My mother made the next one, along with a blue version and a multi-colored beret-like hat which is just a little too large right now. Not to worry, though. Henry’s growing fast and will certainlybe wearing it by the end of the winter.

For some reason, octopi have become very popular themes in baby clothing. This, I think, is the coup-de-grace.
Last, but not least, was a hat that we bought just yesterday (on sale, of course) from a Swedish-inspired children’s clothing store. (And, really, what isn’t Swedish-inspired nowadays.) I’m not sure how much longer it will fit, but it came with matching mittens, so not all is lost.
Pretty cute, eh? Although each of these pictures seem oddly familiar…

If you aren’t careful, an agent is going to find these photos and offer you millions of dollars to sign Henry up as a baby model.
