Barnabas Monkeypants

Henry loves kisses. We give him kisses everywhere – on his plump cheeks, his little toes, his tummy, his knees. Best of all, he likes kisses on his hands and fingers. When he sees someone he likes, he holds out a hand to be kissed. He expects lots and lots of little nibbly kisses all over his hand and fingers. Once he’s collected enough kisses on one hand, he holds up the other for kissing, too. Sometimes, you’ll be munching on a little toe and find a hand thrust down there. That’s your indication it’s time to stop what you’re doing and kiss the hand. Yes, it is a little like kissing the pope’s ring.

Lately Henry has been experimenting with giving kisses as well. This typically involves grabbing the recipient by the hair on either side of his or her face and yanking him or her toward his open drooly mouth. And then he just sort of presses that open drooly mouth against your cheek or forehead or sometimes nose. These kisses are unquestionably the most wonderful disgusting things that have ever happened to me. I’m looking forward to receiving many, many more of them.
