Ladies Man: Part 1
(This is part 1 of “Ladies Man Week,” where we profile each of Henry’s girlfriends.)
Henry’s a charmer. And while men have been taken aback by his sweetness, he’s a real heartbreaker with women. And, like every good ladies man, he does not discriminate with age. Octogenarians love him. Pre-teens adore him. And babies and toddlers all want to smother him with hugs and kisses.
And, being the happy baby that he is, Henry is happy to oblige.
This past holiday weekend was pretty nice weather wise (at least on Saturday and Sunday), and we went for plenty of walks out to the lake. One of those lovely (albeit slightly chilly) afternoons, our friends Melissa and Tarik joined us along with their daughter Talia (who is 5 days younger than Henry). Now Melissa sees Henry nearly every weekday, as we drive her home from the train station, but we haven’t seen Talia in a while (it’s been weeks for Kristen and since New Year’s for me), and since then she (like Henry) has grown so much.
Now Talia’s quite the cutie pie, and she and Henry had a blast playing with each other. Of course, for 9-month-olds, playing means Henry pointed at her for 3 minutes and Talia crawled all over him. (Talia is quite the crawler, something that Henry has yet to master. And Henry’s quite the pointer, something that Talia has no interest in.)
Talia and Henry, while being practically the same age, look very different. Henry is long and thin, and Talia is shorter and has powerful arms and legs. She can pull herself up to a standing position and, as I mentioned, crawls all over (a funky, waddle where her right leg is straight and her left does all the pushing). Henry’s not as physical, and instead watched Talia and laughed and nearly poked her in the eye.
After comparing our babies, we then made our way to the swings where, their differences thrown aside, there was much rejoicing. It was a good day all around.
Unfortunately for Talia, she does not know that she is just one of Henry’s many girlfriends. The ladies are always the last to know.

I like that, “powerful arms and legs.” Much nicer than chubby, plump, juicy…all terms that strangers like to throw our way. She can crawl the “right” way now, but kind of goes back and forth between that and the other.
Vivi sure is a cutie, but not as cute as GF#2.
