Mmmmmmmwa!

Henry’s smooches are a little… strange. He opens up his mouth — semi-smiles — and presses it up against your cheek or (for me) your nose and then slobbers.

For a couple of months, however, he stopped giving us smooches. Nothing. Kristen and I were going through withdrawal. We had to kiss each other, and while that was well and good, it’s not the same.

Lately, however, he’s started to kiss again. But only in one situation, something we’ve dubbed “The Family Smooch.”

Here’s how it goes:

1. I’ll pick up Henry, and walk over to Kristen and we all hug.

2. Kristen and I kiss — loudly, to get a good laugh out of Henry.

3. Kristen kisses Henry.

4. I kiss Henry.

5. Henry kisses Kristen (on the cheek, slobbery).

6. And… that’s it.

Where is my kiss, son? Where? Sure, you’ll give me a hug and you’ll smile and you’ll lay your head on my shoulder. But it’s not enough! I need more! Your mother’s getting all the kisses, and I’m left high and dry.

I guess he’s just preparing me for when he’s 14 and he’ll only communicate with my in grunts.

We do *Group Hug* – and I am usually the only one to get a full-on kiss from Tallen. He does offer his forehead up to Daddy for him to kiss, though, so there is that.
