Henry decided late last week that it was time to start walking. And, really, who are we to stop him?

He’s still a little unsteady on his feet, and his record number of  steps before plopping on his butt is only at 19, but it’s still a wonderful thing.

He walks with his hands pointed right at you, with a smile three feet wide. When he gets to you (or the couch or the chair or the cat), he holds on for dear life and just laughs and laughs (or gnaws on your shoulder).

Aside from him having to just practice walking more, the biggest issue he has with only getting to 19 steps is his pant legs are constantly getting in the way. Henry’s a long, skinny kid (and not for lack of eating — the kid’s a Hoover!). He’s so skinny that his new pants (for the 12-18 month) are fine lengthwise but much too loose in the waist. So much so, that they tend to… fall down. We’ve even been rolling the waist a few times just to keep them on, but that only lasts so long.

What will eventually have to happen is that Henry is going to slow down in the growing tall area and transfer that growth to the growing around area. I don’t want a fat kid by any means; just one that is more egg noodle and less spaghetti.

Here at the bottom is a video we shot on Saturday of Henry doing his two favorite things: walking to his mommy and playing with the cats. I can’t think of anything better myself.
