Cornage: A Photoessay

No words necessary, methinks.
There is nothing better than watching Henry develop as a little person. Each time he does something new, I want to give him a cake and buy him presents and give him a big hug. (Usually, he just gets the hug.)
But with each new thing that he learns, there are always bumps in the road [...]
Henry’s cold is a bit better now. While he was really sick, he wasn’t very interested in eating much, but now that he’s on the mend, he’s been eating like a sumo wrestler in training. In a single day, he’ll eat yogurt, oat meal, fistfulls of Froot Loops (I can’t believe I’m publicly admitting we’ve [...]
So, I’ve been sick.
Still am, in fact.
It’s the sickest I’ve been since I can remember. On Saturday, I started to feel a bit out of sorts. Sunday, I was worse. By Sunday night, I was shivering and feverish, and I was worse Monday morning.
I stayed home from work on Monday, of course. And Tuesday. And [...]
I don’t know if I was an adventurous eater as a child, but as an adult, I’ll pretty much eat anything that isn’t mayonnaise laden or too heavily dairy. Kristen also eats just about everything, although with some things (sushi, BBQ) it takes some cajoling before she tries it and, eventually, eating everyone else’s dinner.

This is birthday week for Henry, meaning he’ll be lavished with presents and kisses and hugs and cake. Pretty much a standard week, actually.
I’ve been reminiscing a bit the past few days, looking at old pictures and videos. (If you’d like to look at some yourself, see some pictures here and videos here.) And every [...]
Henry’s approved food list has expanded in the past week. He’s eaten and enjoyed a ground turkey-pasta mixture, some provolone cheese, watermelon, and much more.
Of course, none of them can compare with his new favorite food. That would be, of course, cake.
Now I love cake. Kristen loves cake. Heck, everyone loves cake. But Henry adores [...]
Henry visited the doctor on Monday for his 9-month check-up. Our son is long — 29 inches — and just under 20 pounds (19 lbs 6 oz to be exact), but a pin prick to his pointer finger showed that he has slightly low iron. What does this mean? Well, nothing much, except that he [...]
Sometimes we tend to overestimate Henry, mostly because he’s progressing so well and growing so fast. His dexterity is terrific; he’s moving around as much as possible without actually crawling (although he’s so close); and his personality is only getting better. Henry’s also been eating a lot of new and exciting things (peaches, pears, plums, [...]
The pediatrician practice Henry goes to has four different doctors. Until now, we’ve seen two of them, his primary doctor, Dr. Cahan, and the other most senior doctor, Dr. Weinstein. Both are different sorts of guys: one is a little brusque and the other is a more touchy feely. (Both are excellent.)
Today, for Henry’s six-month [...]
